Long Island Soccer Football League president Gus Xikis has been hospitalized dealing with a serious medical condition that is not Coronavirus (COVID) related, the league announced on Twitter on Thursday afternoon.

“As this is a hard time for Gus’ friends and family, we kindly ask that you respect that Xikis’s family privacy at this time and not reach out to them concerning personal and soccer matters until further notice,” the LISFL said on Twitter.

Xikis has been LISFL president since 2011.

One of the leading figures and advoates of amateur soccer in the tri-state area, Xikis is second vice president of the Eastern New York State Soccer Association, a member of the LISFL Hall of Fame and a league life member.
