HOWELL, N.J. – Midfielder McCall Zerboni has agreed to a one-year contract with a one-year option with Sky Blue FC for the 2020 National Women’s Soccer League season, it was announced Monday.

As per team and league policies, further details were not disclosed.

“I’m excited to be starting a new journey with Sky Blue,” Zerboni said. “This club has been in the professional game since I began my career and I’m honored to now join their side. I’m a highly motivated individual who wants to make an impact and decorate the team.”

Zerboni, 33, joined Sky Blue FC via a trade with the North Carolina Courage on Jan. 10. She played with the Courage for three seasons, winning three consecutive NWSL Shields and back-to-back NWSL championships in 2018 and 2019.

“Adding a player with McCall’s talent and track record of success is a huge positive for us,” head coach Freya Coombe said. “We’re looking forward to her coming in and competing every day to help make us a better a team.”

Zerboni has played in 147 NWSL regular season games for 12,369 minutes, scored 12 goals and recorded 6 assists. In 2018, she earned NWSL team of the month honors four consecutive times and was a NWSL MVP finalist. She also was named to the NWSL’s Best XI in 2017 and 2018.

“McCall brings a tremendous amount of experience from her ‘winning’ NWSL career,” general manager Alyse LaHue said. “Her leadership, personality, and grit are fantastic elements to mix into our roster as we look to progress our club this year.”
