Former Jamaican international Irvino “Dada” English, who starred for Baisley United in the Long Island Soccer Football League, has died. English was 42.
English was shot and killed in his community in Waterhouse in St. Andrew in Jamaica on Wednesday night. He was shot several times, according to JamMediaOne.com, and died while undergoing treatment at a local hospital.
A former captain of the Waterhouse Football Club, English played five times for the Reggae Boyz from 2001-02. That included an appearance as a substitute in a 1-0 loss to Costa Rica World Cup qualifying match.
English played on an Eastern New York State Soccer Association Cup champion for Baisley United.
“Baisley United mourning the loss of one of our most talented members, Irvino Dada English,” the LISFL club stated on its Facebook page. “It feels unreal. Sleep in peace Dada.”

English attended the Wolmer’s Boys School, playing for its soccer team before enrolling at Norman Manley High School. There, he played a key role in the Norman Manley team capturing the 1996 Manning Cup title.
His son, Rivaldo, also played for Wolmer’s at the Manning Cup level, according to JamMediaOne.com.
