HOWELL, N.J. – Sky Blue FC midfielder Elizabeth Eddy has agreed to a new one-year contract with a one-year option for the National Women’s Soccer League season.

As per team and league policies, further details were not disclosed.

“I’m so stoked to re-sign with Sky Blue FC,” Eddy said. “There is no place I’d rather be this 2020 season and I hope for years to come. Super thankful to the staff for believing in me and giving me this awesome opportunity with great people, a great place, and great fans. I can’t wait to continue growing with this club!”

Eddy, 28, is entering her second season with Sky Blue FC after being acquired in a June 11, 2019 trade with North Carolina Courage. She played 1,200 minutes for Sky Blue FC last season and scored the club’s first goal at Red Bull Arena during an Aug. 18 match against Reign FC.

“Elizabeth brings a wealth of experience and energy to the team and we are really excited to have signed her for the 2020 season,” head coach Freya Coombe said. “She brings speed and creativity to our front line and I look forward to continuing to work with her this season.”

Entering her sixth season in the NWSL, Eddy has played in 62 games, scored five goals, and notched five assists. She was a member of the 2016 Western New York Flash and 2018 North Carolina Courage championship teams.

“Elizabeth was such a pleasant surprise for us after she joined us via trade in 2019,” general manager Alyse LaHue said. “Her impeccable work ethic, desire to grow as a player, and versatility on the field are all assets we seek in a player as we look to take Sky Blue to the playoffs. We are thrilled to have her back with the squad this season.”

Sky Blue FC will kick off its inaugural season against Reign FC at Red Bull Arena on Sunday, April 26.
