HOWELL, N.J. – Not only is Sky Blue FC going to play in a true major league stadium this season, the National Women’s Soccer League team has an upgraded training facility as well.
Sky Blue FC Tuesday announced an agreement to share the Red Bulls Training Facility in East Hanover, N.J. this season.
“Ownership continues to explore ways to transform Sky Blue into the gold standard for the NWSL,” owner Tammy Murphy said. “I am pleased to work collaboratively with the Red Bulls to the benefit of both clubs. This new practice field agreement provides our players the professional amenities and atmosphere they deserve, and I cannot thank our partners at Red Bull enough for their cooperation and support.”
Sky Blue will have access to a grass and turf field and the Academy Building, which offers a complete athletic training room, fitness center, team meeting spaces and full coach and player locker rooms dedicated to Sky Blue.
“We’re grateful for the working relationship we have with the Red Bulls organization,” Sky Blue general manager Alyse LaHue said. “Our goal is to provide our players with the best possible resources to reach their potential and this training location and environment helps accomplish that.”
The facility opened in 2013 and expanded in 2016 with a dedicated academy building and field. The facility boasts four full-size fields, including one heated grass field and one turf field. The academy building has a full training room, gym, team meeting room and offices.
“We’re proud to partner with Sky Blue and provide world-class facilities for training as well as games,” Red Bulls VP of operations Shaun Oliver said. “Giving Sky Blue players and staff access to facilities and fields that we consider to be the best in the region will hopefully aid their preparation and help contribute to success on the field.”
Sky Blue will play at Red Bull Arena for the first time this year, although the NWSL still hasn’t released its schedule for the 2020 season.
