Former St. John’s University midfielder Claudia Cagnina has signed with UPC Tavagnacco of the Serie A women’s league in Italy.

The Lindenhurst, N.Y. resident played for the Red Storm from 2015-28.

“Claudia has been a lifelong AS Roma fan. For her to sign with a club in Serie A has always been a dream,” St. John’s women’s head coach Ian Stone said. “Today, that dream became a reality.”

Cagnina, who majored in criminal justice at St. John’s, scored two goals and added five assists in 67 matches during her four-year career.

She played three years on the Lindenhurst High School varsity, recording three goals and seven assists as a senior. Cagnina also performed for the Brentwood Pride, helped lead the her club side to back-to-back Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association State Cup Championships and consecutive Disney Showcase titles in 2013 and 2014.
