Now there are two members of the Barone family involved in Italian soccer.

Cosmos vice president Joe Barone is an executive with Fiorentina in Serie A, a team that owner Rocco B. Commisso purchased last summer.

His son, midfielder Giuseppe Barone, has signed with Perugia in Serie B.

Perugia is in the middle of the table in the 20-team Serie B in 10th place with a 7-7-6 record.

“Excited to have signed with @ACPerugiaCalcio!,” Barone said on Twitter. Can’t wait to get going  Forza Grifo.”

A graduate of Long Island University Brooklyn, the 21-year-old Barone played with the Cosmos last season after a season with the Brooklyn Italians in the National Premier Soccer League.

His most memorable moment came in a 2-0 win at Kingston Stockade FC on May 3 when Barone scored a golazo from midfield.

In an interview last year, Barone said he was soaking in as much information as he could from his more experienced Cosmos teammates.

“It’s been great,” he said. “The group is definitely merging together and looking better every day. Happy to be here, being one of the younger guys. It’s great being in the locker room, listening to everybody, just trying to take all the information in from everybody, being the young one. Guys have been playing for multiple years. Trying to take everything in, learn as much as possible and then go out there and perform every day, give it my best.”
