FARMINGTON, Conn.- After an outstanding United Women’s Soccer season with the Connecticut Fusion, midfielder Vivien Beil has signed with Napoli Femminile of the Italian Serie B for the remainder of the 2020 season.
In her lone season with the Fusion, Beil (Junea, Germany) was a standout in the midfield. The former German youth international appeared and started in eight regular season matches, registering two goals and two assists, including scoring in home wins against the Worcester Smiles and New Jersey Copa FC and recording two assists in her debut, a 4-0 victory over the Rochester Lady Lancers May 24. She earned second team All-UWS and first team All-UWS East Conference honors.
Beil recently wrapped up her final collegiate campaign this past fall by starting 14 games for the University of Connecticut. Across two seasons in Storrs, Conn. she appeared in 32 matches and scored seven goals while assisting on seven others. Beil spent her first two seasons at the University of Maine before trekking south to Storrs. Prior to that, she was part of the Germany roster at the 2012 Under-17 Women’s World Cup.
Serie B is the second division of women’s soccer in Italy and features 12 teams, with the top-two teams at season’s end gaining promotion to Serie A. Through eight matches of the 2019-2020 season, Napoli stands at the top of the table with 20 points and a 6-0-2 record.
