Another National Independent Soccer Association team in New York?

That just might be the possibility, according to MidfieldPress.com.

The website reported that Laurence Girard, the CEO and co-founder of Fruit Street, a New York medtech company, is interested in joining the league.

One name under consideration is New Amsterdam FC, which was New York City’s original name as a Dutch settlement.

The team hopes to play out of Coffey Field at Fordham University in the Bronx.

NISA would have to approve the new team’s application, as does U.S. Soccer.

The Cosmos will join NISA for the 2020 fall season.
