HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Three members of the Hofstra University women’s team earned United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Women’s Scholar All-East Region honors, announced by the organization Monday afternoon. Juniors Lucy Porter and Sabrina Bryan earned first team distinction while junior Lucy Shepherd was named to the third team.
Porter holds a 3.49 cumulative grade-point average as a Health Science major. She also was named to the CAA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll in each of her last three semesters, has been named to the Dean’s List three times, and was named to the first Hofstra Athletic Director Scholars Academic Honor Roll last spring.
On the field, Porter set a program record 40 points off 16 goals and eight assists.
Bryan holds a 3.40 cumulative GPA as an Exercise Science major. She has been named to the Colonial Athletic Association Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll in three semesters and also was named to the Dean’s List twice. On the pitch, Bryan recorded 32 points this past season (11 goals and 10 assists).
Shepherd earned her first United Soccer Coaches honor, boasting a 3.67 cumulative GPA. A Finance major, Shepherd has been named to the CAA Commissioner’s Academic honor roll all three chances and was featured on the Dean’s List twice. Shepherd was a key player for the Pride this season, recording six goals and nine assists for 21 points.
Because Porter and Bryan were named to the Scholar All-East Region first team, they are eligible for Scholar All-America distinction, which will be released by the United Soccer Coaches this week.
