NEWARK, N.J. — NJIT redshirt junior Rene White and senior Andrew Nino earned United Soccer Coaches All-Atlantic Region recognition, the organization announced Monday.
White was a first-team selection while Nino was named to the third team.
A forward, White closed out the season as the ASUN player of the year and ASUN first-team honoree and was named to the ASUN all-tournament team.
He set program records as the NJIT Division I career goals (34) and points leader (74), NJIT D1 sseason leader in goals (17) and ranks tied for fourth in the nation in goals.
White netted 17 goals in 19 matches this season, registering his second career hat-trick in the Highlanders’ 5-0 shutout victory over Jacksonville to clinch to ASUN Conference regular season title – the first ASUN title for an NJIT team at the Division I level.
The 6-foot striker scored twice in four matches, including an extratime game-winner in NJIT’s 1-0 victory at VCU, for the program’s first win over the Rams.
Nino, a Highlanders co-captain, concluded his four-year career, playing in 66 matches, starting 50.
An first-team ASUN All-Conference honoree, Nino has recorded three goals, 17 assists and 23 points in his career.
His 17 assists leads the NJIT Division I era.
This season Nino played in 18 matches, tallying one goal and eight assists.
