ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Gary Boughton, an original member of the Rochester Lancers indoor-arena soccer team, is back for a sixth season with the Major Arena Soccer League club, it was announced Wednesday.

As per league and team policies, no further terms of the agreement were disclosed.

“The city of Rochester is so fortunate to have the Pride and Joy of Buffalo, NY return to our Lancers,” Lancers owner Salvatore “SoccerSam” Fantauzzo said. “He will bring experience and leadership on and off the field.”

Born and raised in Buffalo, N.Y. the 30-year-old Boughton has played for the Lancers in three indoor leagues — Major Indoor Soccer League, MASL and M2 (MASL2). He played in his 100th Lancers game during the M2 playoff run last year. Boughton has recorded 48 goals and 39 assists for the Lancers, helping the team reach the postseason in three out of five seasons.

He played for Medaille College, where set an NCAA record with 82 career assists while scoring 35 goals. Boughton is a 2-time NSCAA Scholar All-American, four-time NSCAA regional All-American, two-time AMCC Conference player of the year and four-time AMCC first Team all-conference selection.
