HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Hofstra University junior forward Matthew Vowinkel has been named the Colonial Athletic Association men’s co-offensive player of the week.

This was Vowinkel’s second honor in as many weeks as he was also the co-offensive player of the week Oct. 28. He shared the award with UNCW’s Phillip Goodrum.

Vowinkel continued his goal-scoring tear, netting all five goals in a 1-0-1 week. He scored both goals against Binghamton in a 2-2 draw, twice erasing one-goal deficits.

This past Saturday night Vowinkel posted his second hat-trick in three matches, helping Hofstra secure the No. 3 seed in the CAA Championship with a 3-0 win over Northeastern. Vowinkel, who has scored eight consecutive goals, has 12 goals this season, the most by a Hofstra player since 2006.

Hofstra hosts Columbia University in its regular season finale Tuesday at 7 p.m.
