POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Despite registering 10 shots on goal, the Monmouth University men fell to Marist College in extratime in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Wednesday night, 1-0.
The Red Foxes (8-7-0, 5-3-0) dribbled down the right side to the goal line, played a ball across, had a shot blocked and finished the rebound against the Hawks (1-12-2, 1-6-1).
“It was a tough loss tonight,” Monmouth head coach Robert McCourt said. “Our team played really well, and I thought we deserved a point if not three in this match. The effort the players put forth was fantastic.”
The Hawks held a 10-6 advantage in shots on goal, and were awarded seven corner kicks in the loss.
Monmouth will look to rebound at Canisius this Saturday.
