HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Matthew Vowinkel scored both goals as the Hofstra University men erased two one-goal deficits in each half to record a 2-2 draw against Binghamton University at Hofstra Soccer Stadium Tuesday night.

Vowinkel tied the game at 82:05 by converting penalty kick. Jason Ramirez drew the foul in the box, setting up the kick for Vowinkel.

The tie extended Hofstra’s unbeaten streak to four games (2-0-2) and pushed its record to 7-6-2. Binghamton is also 2-0-2 in its last four games and 5-7-2 overall.

Hofstra goalkeeper Alex Ashton made five saves while his Bearcats counterpart, P.J. Parker, had three.

Binghamton got on the board first as Oliver Svalander put a left-footed shot into the upper right corner at 28:38. But Vowinkel evened the score at 33:56 as he headed in a free kick from Storm Strongin.

The Bearcats took a 2-1 lead at 69:02 as Harris Brkovic turned in a great individual effort, taking a long pass down the right sideline before dribbling back into the box around two defenders and getting a right-footed shot past Ashton.
