The Long Island Futsal League kicked off play in December 1996 at the World Gym in East Setauket, N.Y. More than two decades later and under the umbrella of the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association it has become one of the largest futsal leagues in the United States.

Last winter, more 200 boys and girls youth teams played futsal at gymnasiums in central Suffolk County. It has become an answer to the New York winter when our fields are too frozen to play on.

There are more venues available this winter. Gyms to be used are in the Connetquot School District (Connetquot High School and Oakdale-Bohemia Middle School), Middle Country School District (Centereach High School and Newfield High School), Three Village School District (Murphy Junior High School) and Our Savior New American School in Centereach.

Clinics for developing Under-8 and U-9 teams.

The league also has a renovated website at https://lifutsal.com/home-li-futsal

Registration closes Dec. 8 with the season kicking off on the weekend of Jan. 4-5. For more info regarding Long Island Futsal, contact LIFL president John Branca at 631-790-7481 or lifutsal@gmail.com.
