QUEENS, N.Y. — New York City FC striker Heber will be ready to play against Toronto FC in the MLS Eastern Conference semifinal at Citi Field Wednesday night.
The question is how long the Brazilian will be able to perform in the single-elimination match at 7 p.m.
Heber, who has been bothered by calf discomfort, did not play in a scrimmage against the Chicago Fire in Bridgeview, Ill. last week.
But City head coach Dome Torrent was confident will be available for available for the match.
“Heber is ready to play,” Torrent told reporters at Citi Field Tuesday. “I don’t know if maybe he starts, maybe he can play 30-40 minutes, I don’t know. But he’s ready to play. He’s not injured right now,” Torrent said. “It’s good news for us. Every day I say the same because it’s the reality: I need to find the right players to play against Toronto. That means for me the best players are the players in that moment who have rhythm, more chances to play than other players.”
The winner will take on the victor of the Atlanta United-Philadelphia semifinal next Wednesday.
