FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Monmouth University men continued to struggle, dropping a 3-1 decision to Fairfield University in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Saturday night.

The Stags (3-5-4, 1-2-2) opened the scoring in the 38th minute and added to their lead at the beginning of the second half.

The Hawks’ (1-10-2, 1-4-1) lone goal was scored when Griffin Tomas dribbled down the left side of the box and played a low ball across the box, where Liam McGregor battled a defender and tapped it in.

Fairfield went back ahead by two goals in the 78th minute, as a through ball got behind the Monmouth defense into the 18, where the Stags finished inside the left post.

Monmouth hosts Quinnipiac Wednesday.
