WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Three second-half goals sent Saint Peter’s College past the Monmouth University men Wednesday night, 4-1.

In a windy, rain-filled night, the Hawks (1-9-2, 1-3-1) took a 1-0 in the 32nd minute, as freshman Ben Zakowski scored his third goal in as many games.

Just over five minutes later, Saint Peter’s forward Jordan Jowers equalized at 1-1 after a scramble in the box.

The Peacocks took the lead in the 66th minute, heading home a corner kick.

Another crowded box led to a goal from the Peacocks’ Dominic Laws after receiving a square ball.

With less than 10 minutes to play, Saint Peter’s increased its lead to 4-1 on a Monmouth own goal.

“Full credit to Saint Peter’s,” Monmouth head coach Robert McCourt said. “They were very good in the second half and deserved the win. We will rally up and get ready for Fairfield.”

Monmouth will travel to Fairfield Saturday at 7 p.m.
