NEWARK, Del. – Sophomore Miri Taylor scored the game-winning goal in the 88th minute as the Hofstra University women earned a 3-2 comeback victory over the University of Delaware in Colonial Athletic Association action at Stuart & Suzanne Grant Stadium Sunday.
Taylor collected a loose ball just outside the six-yard box and shot through the legs of a Delaware defender toward the left corner of the net.
Hofstra (11-3-1, 5-0-1) extended its unbeaten streak to 10 matches. Delaware dropped to 9-5 overall and suffered its first conference loss, falling to 4-1.
The Pride took a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute when junior Lucy Shepherd crossed the ball across the face of the goal to junior Sabrina Bryan, who tapped her shot to the lower left corner of the net for her sixth goal this season.
Delaware scored the equalizer nearly 10 minutes later.
After Delaware took a 2-1 lead in the 55th minute on a goal by Jill Vasallo, Shepherd and Bryan switched roles when Shepherd volleyed in Bryan’s cross, leveling the score at 2-2.
Freshman goalkeeper Skylar Kuzmich made two saves.
