HAMTRAMCK, Mich. — Detroit City FC prepared for its Saturday showdown with the Cosmos via a 2-0 victory over Michigan Stars FC at Keyworth Stadium Tuesday night.
The team remained unbeaten in NPSL Members Cup play with a 6-0-1 record and 19 points. The first-place Cosmos (6-0-2, 20) will host Detroit City FC at Mitchel Athletic Complex in Uniondale, N.Y. on Saturday at 7 p.m.
Detroit City FC snapped a scoreless tie in the 65th minute when a Michigan player was called for a handball in the box. Ryan Peterson converted the ensuing penalty kick before a crowd of 3,307.
Richard Bryan scored an insurance goal in the 85th minute.
Goalkeeper Nate Steinwascher recorded the shutout, the team’s third consecutive clean sheet.
In a rare unusual and occurrence, every player in the Starting XI but Steinwascher took at least one shot at goal.
