ALBANY, N.Y. – The Hofstra University men spotted the University of Albany three first-half goals as the Great Danes recorded a 4-1 victory at Tom & Mary Casey Stadium Tuesday night.

Matthew Vowinkel had the lone goal for the Pride (5-6), which lost for the second consecutive time.

Niklas Roessler put Albany (5-4-1) on the board at 12:42 as he corralled a clearance attempt in front of the goal and put a shot past goalkeeper Alex Dudley, who had just gotten to his feet after making a save on a previous shot.

Austin DaSilva made it 2-0 at 22:23 with a right-footed blast from the left side of the box. Hofstra had some miscommunication on the third goal as a Pride defender sent a pass back to Dudley from 30 yards out that was off target and went in the net for an own goal at 27:17.

The Pride scored at 62:47 when Vowinkel converted a penalty kick following an Albany foul in the box. The goal was Vowinkel’s team-high fourth of the season. But DaSilva put the Great Danes back up by three at 78:45 after he stole the ball from Dudley 30 yards out, and raced in on an empty net for the score.

Hofstra visits Philadelphia to take on Drexel University in a Colonial Athletic Association game Saturday at 4 p.m.
