HAMDEN, Conn. – Maddison Perna converted a second-half penalty kick to boost the Monmouth University women earned a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Quinnipiac University at Quinnipiac Soccer Complex Saturday afternoon.

Goalkeeper Amanda Knaub earned the shutout with two saves as the Hawks remained unbeaten in seven successive matches with their fifth consecutive win.

“This was a good win on the road,” Monmouth head coach Krissy Turner said. “We didn’t play our best but we got the result we needed.”

The Hawks (6-2-2, 4-0-0) controlled the action through the first 45 minutes and held a 5-0 shots on goal advantage at halftime. They broke through in the 63rd minute when Dana Scheriff drew a penalty kick when she was taken down from behind.

Perna converted the penalty against Quinnipiac (5-6-0, 1-3-0).

The Hawks travel to Loudonville, NY to face Siena College Wednesday at 3 p.m.
