WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. — The Monmouth University women remained perfect in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play behind a 3-1 win over Manhattan College at Hesse Field on the Great Lawn Wednesday night.
The Hawks have won 10 consecutive home games against MAAC opponents.
“A solid performance from the Hawks tonight,” head coach Krissy Turner said. “The second half was some of the best soccer we have played all season and it stated with a world-class goal from Maddison Perna to give us a two-goal lead.”
Monmouth (5-2-2, 3-0-0) built a 3-0 lead behind goals by Dana Scheriff, Maddison Perna and Lexie Palladino before a late score put Manhattan (1-8-0, 0-2-0) on the board.
Scheriff scored her third goal of the season and 12th of her career in the ninth minute off a one-touch feed by Lauren Karabin.
Perna’s first career goal came quickly after halftime when she took a deflected cross and blasted it with her right foot past the goalkeeper.
Palladino put the game out of reach with her fourth goal in as many games in the 74th minute.
The Hawks continue MAAC play, traveling to Hamden, Conn. to meet Quinnipiac University Saturday at noon.
