RIVERDALE, N.Y. – With 47 seconds left in the second extratime, Manhattan College scored to defeat the Monmouth University men in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference opener for both teams Wednesday night.

Manhattan’s Thomas Hitchins gathered a rebound and sent it to the bottom right corner of the net.

The Hawks (0-7-1, 0-1-0) had a 6-1 advantage in shots on goal prior to the game-winner by the Jaspers (2-5-0, 1-0-0).

Monmouth did not allow a shot on goal until the first extra period, and the attempt was saved by redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Sean Murray.

The Hawks will host Niagara for Senior Day Saturday at 2 p.m.
