Chicago Red Stars forward Sam Kerr heads the National Women’s Soccer League’s team of the month for September.

The team was selected by the NWSL Media Association.

Kerr was voted NWSL player of the month for September and selected as player of the week for Week 23. She is joined by another player of the Week honoree Lynn Williams, who was selected for Week 22.

The Chicago Red Stars led the way with six players voted to team of the month, followed by North Carolina Courage with three players, and Reign FC with two players.

GK: Alyssa Naeher (Chicago Red Stars): She made 14 saves and allowed two goals. The Red Stars won all five games in September, allowing them to clinch a spot and as well as a home game in the playoffs.

D: Jaelene Hinkle (North Carolina Courage): She scored her first goal of the season against Utah Royals FC. She holds a 72.7 percent tackle success rate along with a 71.5 percent pass success rate.

D: Lauren Barnes (Reign FC): She played all 90 minutes for Reign FC in the matches against Portland Thorns FC, Utah Royals FC, Sky Blue FC and Orlando Pride. She holds a 71 percent tackle success rate and an 80 percent pass success rate.

D: Julie Ertz (Chicago Red Stars): The United States international started all five games for the Red Stars in September. She holds a 64 percent tackle success rate, 72.8 percent pass success rate and 57.6 percent duel success rate.

D: Casey Short (Chicago Red Stars): She scored the game-winning goal against the Orlando Pride, giving her two goals this campaign. She holds a 64.3 percent tackle success rate, along with 42 clearances.

M: Beverly Yanez (Reign FC): She scored her first goal of the season against the Orlando Pride. She assisted against Utah Royals FC and Portland Thorns FC, where her team clinched a sport in the playoffs. Yanez has a 71.2 success success passing rate.

M: Debinha (North Carolina Courage): The Brazilian native recorded three goals and three assists. All of her assists were against Portland as she also scored a goal during that match. Her other two goals were against the Orlando Pride and Utah Royals FC. Debinha holds a 71.4 percent pass success rate.

M: Morgan Brian (Chicago Red Stars): Brian assisted the first goal of the match against the Houston Dash. She then scored the first of three goals for the Chicago Red Stars against Utah Royals FC. Brian holds an 81.3 percent pass success rate and 61.5 percent tackle success rate.

F: Yuki Nagasato (Chicago Red Stars): She assisted in the game against Dash. She also assisted in the match against Sky Blue FC, where she scored a goal. The following match against Washington Spirit, Nagasato scored and assisted another goal. In the match against Utah Royals FC, she scored the game-winner.

F: Sam Kerr (Chicago Red Stars): She started by scoring two goals against the Dash. She then assisted in the match against Orlando Pride. Against Sky Blue FC, she also scored a goal. Kerr added two goals and assisted another vs. the Spirit. She also broke hers and the league’s season scoring record with her 18th tally.

F: Lynn Williams (North Carolina Courage): She had a hat-trick in the match against Portland Thorns FC. Williams scored again in the following game against Orlando and finished off the month with a goal against Washington. Williams has 12 goals.
