The Adelphi University men have retained their No. 1 ranking in the latest United Soccer Coaches Division II Top 25 Poll, released Tuesday afternoon.
The Panthers, who were ranked No. 1 for the first time in their history last week, are off to one of their best starts in program history at 5-0.
Adelphi took to the road for the first time in 2019 last week, winning at Georgian Court University, 4-0, and defeating Le Moyne College, 3-2, in its Northeast-10 Conference opener. The Panthers have outscored their opposition, 18-5.
AU is one of 16 remaining unbeaten teams in Division II. Four of those schools also occupy the other spots in the Top 5 of the poll – Young Harris College (No. 2), Azusa Pacific University (No. 3), West Texas A&M University (No. 4) and Lynn University (No. 5). Fellow East Region programs Mercy College and Wilmington University are ranked at No. 9 and No. 18 this week, respectively.
Head coach Gary Book and the Panthers are back in action Wednesday when they host University of New Haven in an NE10 showdown at Motamed Field at 7 p.m. in Garden City, N.Y.
