POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – So much for statistics.

Despite enjoying a 15-7 advantage on shots and a 7-3 edge in shots on goal, the Hofstra University men lost to Marist College, 3-1, at Tenney Stadium at Leonidoff Field Wednesday night.

It was Martist’s fifth win against Hofstra (4-4), which fell to 10-5-1 against the Red Foxes (3-4).

Marist’s Huib Achterkamp opened the scoring in the 39th minute with a penalty kick.

The Red Foxes extended the lead to 2-0 in the 59th minute as Stefan Copetti converted a feed from Skylar Conway.

Matthew Vowinkel scored for the second consecutive match to put the Pride on the scoreboard in the 64th minute with a penalty kick.

Allen Gavilanes scored unassisted in the 75th minute to restore Marist with a two-goal cushion.

Alex Dudley made his first career appearance in goal for the Pride, playing the final 13:44.

Hofstra returns to action at home against Long Island University Tuesday at 7 p.m.
