QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John’s University women could not hold onto the lead and wound up losing to Drexel University in extratime, 2-1, at Belson Stadium Sunday.

The Red Storm has played more than 90 minutes in four matches this season.

Lauren Currey recorded the game-winning goal off an assist from Isabel Kuzy in the 107th minute.

Alex Madden registered St. John’s lone goal, the first of her Red Storm career. Maia Cabrera and Addison Hornsey picked up assists.

Trailing 1-0 with 13 seconds left in regulation, Drexel tied the game as Lily Dunbar netted the goal.

The Johnnies broke through first in the 16th minute. The play began as Cabrera sent the ball up to Hornsey, who sailed her pass across the box towards the far post. Madden collected the pass and ripped a shot past the goalkeeper.

St. John’s will wrap up non-conference play, welcoming Cornell to Belson Stadium Saturday at 3 p.m.
