AUSTIN, Texas – Three first-half goals propelled the Monmouth University women to a 4-0 victory over No. 25 the University of Texas at Mike A. Myers Stadium and Soccer Field Sunday afternoon.

Madie Gibson scored one goal and added two assists against Texas (4-3-0).

“This was a tremendous performance on the road against a Top 25 opponent,” Monmouth head coach Krissy Turner said. “This win is for Monmouth Athletics and Monmouth women’s soccer. It is a great day to be a Hawk!”

Monmouth (2-2-2) dominated Texas from the outset, with Dana Scheriff putting the Hawks on the board in the sixth minute. A low cross made its way through the Texas penalty area where Scheriff stepped in front of a defender and used her left foot to score.

A counter-attack set up Monmouth’s second goal in the 18th minute as Lauren Karabin started the break. Her pass back to Gibson set up a cross that was headed inside the far post by Lexie Palladino.

A 70-yard run by Gibson to the Texas end line preceded a left-footed cross that A’Liah Moore tapped into the empty net to make it 3-0 in the 26th minute.

Gibson added a late goal in the 84th minute.
