HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Junior midfielder Lucy Porter scored twice as the Hofstra University women defeated the Fairleigh Dickinson University at Hofstra Soccer Stadium Thursday night.
The Hofstra (4-3-0) offense and defense dominated as the Pride out shot the Knights (1-3-3), 23-3. Hofstra racked up 10 shots on goal while allowing one.
The Pride improved to 7-0-1 against Fairleigh Dickinson. The squad is is 2-0 at home this season and 15-3-2 at home over the last three seasons,
Porter, who leads the team with eight goals this season, opened up the scoring in the 14th minute. She scored after receiving a pass from sophomore midfielder Miri Taylor and junior midfielder Jordan Littleboy. The Pride is 4-0 when Porter scores.
FDU leveled 10 minutes later when a corner kick by the Knights scored off goal that went in off of a Hofstra player.
Just after halftime, the Pride took the lead when Bryan beat her defender up the left side and found Porter, who chipped a shot over goalkeeper Amanda Fitzgerald’s shoulder to the far right side of the net.
Hofstra welcomes Columbia Sunday at 1 p.m.
