QUEENS, N.Y. – Redshirt senior Samantha Masur recorded her first career goal to lift the St. John’s University women to a 1-0 victory over former Big East foe Syracuse University at Belson Stadium Thursday night.

Masur provided the game-winning tally in the 18th minute off a long pass from Michelle Money. The assist marked the first of Money’s St. John’s tenure.

Goalkeeper Naya Lipkens earned her second win of the season and the first clean sheet of her collegiate career. The redshirt freshman from Bloomfield, Conn., turned aside three shots for the Johnnies to their first shutout victory this season.

The game-winning goal sequence began as Money played a long pass into the box toward the left post for Masur. The Johnnies’ captain corraled the ball before sending her shot to the near side of the net.

St. John’s will continue its four-game homestand at 1 p.m. Sunday, welcoming Drexel to Belson Stadium.
