TEANECK, N.J. – The Monmouth University women earned their first win of the season with a 1-0 triumph over Fairleigh Dickinson University at University Stadium Friday night.
Goalkeeper Amanda Knaub made one save in goal for the Hawks (1-2-1) to collect her second clean sheet this season. She has 32 career shutouts.
After controlling the play for a majority of the match, Monmouth finally broke through in the 83rd minute.
Lauren Karabin tallied her first goal in a Monmouth uniform with a left-footed shot that dinged off the inside of the far post and into the back of the FDU goal. A run through a couple of defenders by Dana Scheriff set Karabin up for the game-winner.
“Tonight was a solid win on the road,” Monmouth head coach Krissy Turner said. “We created a lot of chances and limited their opportunities. Getting a shutout is extremely important as we inch closer to league play.”
The Hawks continue their four-game road trip when they travel to Philadelphia for a matchup with Drexel University Thursday at 7 p.m.
