SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The St. John’s women’s soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision to former Big East rival Notre Dame at Alumni Stadium Sunday evening.
The Irish (4-0) rolled past the Red Storm (1-3) with a 25-3 advantage including 14-0 margin of shots on goal.
Zsani Kajan, Alex Madden and Brooke Boyd registered a shot on the evening for the Red Storm, but saw their chances go off target.
Following a quiet start for both teams, the Irish snapped the scoreless tie in the 35th minute to take a 1-0 lead. Notre Dame’s Camryn Dyke capitalized on a deflection inside the box, as she collected the ball before sending it to the upper corner.
Five minutes into the second half, Notre Dame extended its lead to 2-0 with a goal off the foot of Jenna Winebrenner. The Irish found the back of the net two more times on goals by Brooke VanDyck and Olivia Wingate.
St. John’s visits Stony Brook University Thursday at 7 p.m.
