Sowe, 19, was a member of the Red Bulls Under-18 academy team this past season. He appeared in 15 matches and recorded nine goals.
Prior to joining the academy, Sowe tallied 89 goals and 67 assists for Harrison High School, setting records for the storied school soccer program. He was a two-time NJSCAA All-State selection and earned Section 2 player of the year honors in 2018.
“It is exciting to have a young player like Omar with us. He spent some time with our academy so, it is always important to find ways to give opportunities to those guys,” Red Bulls II head coach John Wolyniec said. “He has a lot of tools to have success in our system, so we are excited to do everything we can to help him get to the highest level possible.”
Sowe also appeared in five matches for Red Bulls U-23 side during the summer, including Lamar Hunt Open Cup matches against FC Motown and Memphis 901 FC.
“Five years ago I was at the stadium like any other kid, watching the games, going crazy,” Sowesaid. “Now there’s an opportunity for me to be playing for Red Bulls. It’s a dream come true.”
