MONTCLAIR, N.J. — Mathias Jorgensen recorded a first-half brace to lead Red Bull II to a 2-0 victory over the Tampa Bay Rowdies in USL Championship action at MSU Soccer Park Friday night.
The result lifted New York (41 points) to 12-4-5 while Tampa Bay (43) fell to 12-2-7.
Goalkeeper Evan Louro made five saves for his third clean sheet of the season, the team’s fifth overall before a crowd of 1,089.
NYRBII opened the scoring in the 18th minute. Jorgensen received a long ball, poked it around the goalkeeper and fired a low shot.
Jorgensen doubled the lead in the 34th minute, converting a lead-pass from John Tolkin for his eighth goal this season. Tolkin recorded his third assist in his fourth game.
NYRB Academy product Bryce Lebel made his second appearance of the season, entering the game in the 67th minute.
Red Bull II will host Saint Louis FC at MSU Soccer Park Friday at 7 p.m.
