Cosmos striker Bledi Bardic was named to the Northeast Region XI of the National Premier Soccer League, it was announced by the league Friday afternoon.
Bardic, the lone Cosmos selected, enjoyed his second consecutive double-digit goal season with the club this season. He found the net 10 times in 14 regular-season games. Last year he collected 12 goals in 11 matches before he was sidelined for the postseason with a hamstring injury.
The 27-year-old forward finished the regular season tied with the New York Athletic Club’s Travis Blair for the conference scoring lead. They also were tied for ninth in the NPSL among the goal-scoring leaders.
Last week Bardic was named to the North Atlantic Conference XI as the lone Cosmos on that team.
He is eligible to be selected to the NPSL XI.
Teams, media and fans were part of the online voting process.
FC Baltimore Christos head coach Larry Sancomb was chosen as the top region coach.
The Cosmos (13-0-1) host FC Baltimore at Mitchel Athletic Complex in Uniondale, N.Y. on Sunday at 6 p.m. The winner will reach the NPSL national semifinals, which are scheduled to be held the weekend of July 20.
