HOWELL, N.J. ― Sky Blue FC signed midfielder Nicole Baxter as a National Team Replacement player, the National Women’s Soccer League club announced Thursday.
The New Jersey team also announced Sabrina Flores was released from her National Team Replacement contract. She is expected to sign with an overseas club.
A New Jersey native, Baxter joins Sky Blue after playing for Asarum IF in the Elitettan division in Sweden this past year, starting in all 10 games. In 2018 Baxter performed for Telge United FF of the Swedish First Division. She featured in in 22 games, started 21, scored three goals and recorded six assists.
In 2016 and 2018, Baxter was on the Sky Blue FC preseason roster, participating in three preseason matches.
A 2015 graduate of The College of William and Mary, Baxter played in 77 games, scoring eight goals and registering 19 assists. She was the team captain and earned NSCAA All-Mid-Atlantic Region first team, All-Colonial Athletic Association first team, and All-VaSID first-team honors in her senior season.
Sky Blue will play at the Orlando Pride Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The team will return home for its World Cup Return Night against the Washington Spirit at Yurcak Field Wednesday, July 24 at 7:30 p.m.
