Red Bulls left back Kemar Lawrence has been named to the roster for the 2019 MLS All-Star game.
Lawrence earned his first all-star honors as one of 13 selections made by all-star head coach James O’Connor of Orlando City SC. The MLS All-Stars face 10-time La Liga Champions Altetico Madrid at Orlando’s Exploria Stadium Wednesday, July 31.
In his fifth season with the Red Bulls, Lawrence has been a mainstay during two Supporters’ Shield seasons, four consecutive playoff appearances and three Concacaf Champions League runs. In 2018 Lawrence made 28 appearances as New York allowed a league-low 33 goals en route to MLS records for points (71) and wins (22) in a season.
He earned his first MLS Best XI award for the 2018 season. Lawrence recently surpassed the 100 games mark in MLS. Across all competitions, he has more than 130 appearances for the Red Bulls, contributing four goals and 12 assists.
Lawrence is with Jamaica for the Concacaf Gold Cup. He has been an integral part of the Reggae Boyz, with more than 40 caps and a starting spot in the Copa America Centenario, several Gold Cups, in which he scored the winning free kick in the final minutes against Mexico in the 2017 semifinals, and World Cup qualification.
