The Rochester Lady Lancers face a must-win situation entering their fifth game of the United Women’s Soccer season Sunday.
The Lady Lancers (1-2-1) welcome the Connecticut Fusion to Charles A. Schiano Field at Aquinas Institute in Rochester, N.Y. for a 2 p.m. game.
After a tough inaugural 2017 UWS campaign, Rochester broke through last year with a 5-2-2 record and was an East Division contender.
After the loss of UWS MVP Brooke Barbuto to the new team in Syracuse, the Lancers are trying to find their flow this season. They are looking to re-establish themselves in the title race.
This will be the second meeting between the two teams. Last year, two goals from Tori Sousa led the Fusion to a 4-0 road win. Connecticut wants a similar result if it is to battle for the conference crown.
The Long Island Rough Riders’ (4-2-0, 12 points) win Wednesday has put them into first-place over the undefeated Fusion (3-0-1, 10). Connecticut can catapult over LI back into the lead with a win.
In the second game of the Aquinas doubleheader, the Rochester Lancers men host the Pittsburgh Hotspurs in a National Premier Soccer League match at 5 p.m.
