The two metropolitan area MLS teams will host two Lamar Hunt Open Cup games on consecutive nights next month, but they won’t be in their home stadiums.

On Tuesday, June 11, the Red Bulls will welcome the New England Revolution to MSU Soccer Park on the campus of Montclair State University in Montclair, N.J. for a fourth-round match at at 7:30 p.m.

New York City FC will host North Carolina FC at Belson Stadium on the campus of St. John’s University in Queens, N.Y. Weduesday, June 12 at 7 p.m.

The NYCFC match will be the first meeting between the two clubs. North Carolina FC defeated the Richmond Kickers and Florida Soccer Soldiers in the second and third Rounds, respectively. The USL Championship side beat the Soccer Soldiers, 1-0, Wednesday night.

MSU Soccer Park has been the home of Red Bull II, the club’s United Soccer League affiliate, since 2017. The facility has undergone two rounds of renovations, with new locker rooms and additional stands being added prior to the start of this season.

This will be the fifth time New York and New England meet in the Open Cup. New York is 3-1 all time against the Revs in the USOC, most recently recording a 1-0 victory in the 2017 quarterfinals en route to the club’s second final appearance.

If both MLS local clubs prevail in the third round, there is a good chance they could tussle in the fifth round of the cup later in June.
