BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. — New York City FC had its four-game road winning streak snapped, but increased its overall unbeaten streak to eight games as it played the Chicago Fire to a 1-1 draw at SeatGeek Stadium Saturday afternoon.

City (19 points) moved to 4-1-7 while Chicago (17) added another draw for its 4-5-5 record.

The teams traded goals in the first half as CJ Sapong lifted the hosts into the lead on the half hour with his fourth goal of the season.

Przemyslaw Frankowski passed to Brandt Bronico, who cut the ball back to Sapong. The forward then tapped the ball home past goalkeeper Sean Johnson. A linesman had his offside flag up on the play, but after a Video Review Referee the call was overturned and a goal was awarded.

NYCFC eqaulized 10 minutes later through Alexandru Mitrita, who made his first start since suffering an ankle injury of the 2-0 victory at D.C. United  April 21.

Defender Ronald Matarrita sent the ball to Maxi Moralez, who slipped a pass to Mitrita, who drilled a 26-yard shot into the right corner past goalkeeper Kenneth Kronholm.
