HOWELL, N.J. – Estelle Johnson will be heading to her first Women’s World Cup this summer as Cameroon announced its roster earlier Friday.

Johnson, a 30 year-old defender from Fort Collins, Colo., has been training with Cameroon since May 4, when she was named to the team’s preliminary World Cup roster.

“I’m extremely excited to have been named to the World Cup roster for Cameroon,” she said. “This is something I’ve wanted since I was eight years old and I’m beyond grateful for the opportunity to represent my birth nation. I’m looking forward to an amazing experience! Allez Les Lionnes!”

Johnson has started four times for Sky Blue FC this National Women’s Soccer League season after joining the club Jan. 10.

Cameroon is in Group E along with Canada, the Netherlands and New Zealand. The Women’s World Cup kicks off June 7. Cameroon’s first match is June 10th against Canada (3 p.m. ET) at Stade de la Mosson in Montepellier. The African side will face the Netherlands June 15 (9 a.m. ET) at Stade du Hainaut in Valenciennes. The team’s final group stage will be June 20 (noon ET) at Stade de la Mosson in Montpellier.
