For the second consecutive week, Chicago Red Stars striker Sam Kerr has been voted National Women’s Soccer League player of the week for Week 6 by the NWSL Media Association, it was announced Tuesday.Kerr, the player of the week in Week 5, scored two goals in the Red Stars’ 2-1 win at the Houston Dash Sunday.

She opened the scoring early with a left-footed shot from the center of the box in the eighth minute. The Australian international followed that up in the 13th minute with a right-footed shot again from the center of the box, giving Chicago a 2-0 lead.

Kerr leads the league in scoring with six goals in as many games, with four coming in the last two matches.

She has reported to Matildas camp in preparation for the Women’s World Cup in France.

The NWSL player of the week is selected each week of the regular season by the NWSL Media Association, a collection of writers that cover the league on a consistent basis.
