HARRISON, N.J. – Red Bull II has signed goalkeepers Rashid Nuhu and Miguel Silva to USL Championship contracts, the club announced Monday.
Nuhu, 23, was named to the All-Atlantic 10 first team during his junior and senior seasons at Fordham University.
The Accra, Ghana native holds the record for most minutes played (6,942 minutes) in Fordham men’s soccer program history. Nuhu is second, behind current Red Bulls goalkeeper Ryan Meara, in shutouts with 30 as a Ram.
Nuhu was 70th overall in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft by the Red Bulls. He participated in three scrimmages against the Portland Timbers, Phoenix Rising SC and FC Dallas. He played for the Red Bulls Under-23 squad during the 2018 Premier Development League (now USL League Two) season.
Silva, 18, signed his first professional contract with Deportivo La Guaira when he was 16-years-old. He made 14 appearances with Metropolitanos in Venezuela. He was teammates with NYRB II defender Edgardo Rito, when he played there in 2018.
Red Bull II returns home to face North Carolina FC on Military Appreciation Night at MSU Soccer Park on the campus of Montclair State University May 24 at 7 p.m. ET.
