CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Tom Barlow struck twice within a three-minute span in the first half to help Red Bull II to erase a one-goal deficit en route to a 2-1 win over the Charlotte Independence in a USL Championship game Saturday night.
The victory boosted fourth-place Red Bull to 3-0-1 and 10 points while Charlotte (1), in 17th place out of 18 teams, fell to 0-4-1.
Barlow has five games this season.
Niki Jackson, off an Andrew Gutman feed, grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute.
New York rallied quickly. First, Marcus Epps set up Barlow in the 33rd minute before Jared Stroud did the same three minutes later.
Sean McSherry and Amarildo de Souza made their season debuts for the visitors. This marked McSherry’s first professional appearance.
NYRB II will return home to host Hartford Athletic on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
