LIVE FROM NEW YORK: SNL alumnus Sudeikis to host ICC launch

NEW YORK — Relevent Sports Group announced Tuesday that Saturday Night Live alumnus Jason Sudeikis will host the 2019 International Champions Cup launch over three days next week.

Sudeikis is well known among soccer fans for his internet character, coach Ted Lasso, a bad American “football” coach hired to direct Tottenham Hotspur.

“Engaging with the soccer community has been an unexpected thrill in my career,” Sudeikis said. “There is a passion to the sport that is genuine and I am thrilled to play a small part of bringing the best clubs in the world to North America and Asia.”

In its seventh year, the ICC is the first chance for clubs to debut new players, new managers and new kits and for soccer fans to see their heroes back on the field. More than 4.8 million fans have attended ICC matches since its inception and more than 150 million people watch the tournament worldwide.
