The SheBelieves initiative originated in 2015 in the lead up to the Women’s World Cup with the USWNT celebrating women and encouraging the female leaders of tomorrow to unapologetically pursue their dreams, athletic and otherwise.

In the past four years, the SheBelieves initiative has evolved and grown into a special bond between the team and its fans, taking its powerful message of empowerment and that of believing in yourself into communities across the nation.

The U.S. opened the 2019 SheBelieves Cup with a 2-2 draw with Japan in Chester, Pa., Wednesday night while England defeated Brazil, 2-1, in the tournament’s first match of the day. With England in first place, the match in Nashville will be an important clash to determine the eventual champion
