The Cosmos Monday announced the signing of forward Aly Alberto Hassan.

The 29-year-old joins a strong attacking unit that includes forwards Jochen Graf, Aaron Dennis and Bledi Bardic as well as creative midfielders Junior Burgos and Darwin Espinal.

Hassan will play for the Cosmos for the National Premier Soccer League season and in the NPSL Founders Cup.

“I’m really excited to be joining this iconic organization,” Hassan said. “To be a part of this club is an honor and I’m looking forward to helping the team win games and hopefully a championship.”

He began his professional career in his native Florida, signing for the Fort Lauderdale Strikers in 2012 in the North American Soccer League before playing for several other clubs in North America, including Ottawa Fury FC and San Antonio FC. Hassan also spent a brief loan spell in the Bolivian top division with Club Aurora, scoring twice in eight appearances.

Most recently, Hassan performed for Miami FC 2 in the NPSL.

“We feel Aly brings the right level of experience to the roster for the 2019 season,” Cosmos senior vice president Joe Barone said. “Aly is a strong presence up top and fits in well with our other additions at the attacking positions.”

Added Cosmos head coach Carlos Mendes: “Aly is a proven professional and a true No. 9 who brings experience, goals, and a strong mentality. We love his attitude inside the box and he will be a handful for opposing defenders.
