NEW YORK – The Cosmos announced Thursday that they had re-signed defender Garrett Halfhill.
The center back was a key contributor for Cosmos B a year ago as the club earned the North Atlantic Conference title after a 10-0-0 regular season in the National Premier Soccer League.
Halfhill will play in the NPSL and the NPSL Founders Cup.
“I’m excited to be back with the New York Cosmos and meet my new teammates,” Halfhill said. “It’s an honor to wear the crest and represent this great club. My expectations are high and I’m eager to get to work.”
The 25-year-old defender anchored the back line defensively and is comfortable on the ball to help start attacking play.
Halfhill made his professional debut in the United Soccer League with FC Cincinnati in 2017.
“Garrett is a player that we really liked last season and we’re thrilled to have him back,” Cosmos senior vice president Joe Barone said. “He has all the characteristics we are looking for in a center back.”
“We were impressed with Garrett last season and were pleased with his development on the field,” Cosmos head coach Carlos Mendes said. “He has a professional mentality and is also a versatile player. We are very excited to have him back for the 2019 season.”
